PSPP downloads

This page is a part of PSPP Guide.

Source code and official binary downloads are available on a PSPP GNU-org website. However, binary builds are mostly for a stable branch. Master branch of the PSPP, with newer features, but less testing are available for Ubuntu Linux, Microsoft Windows and Mac OS.

Ubuntu Linux

PSPP is included in repositories of all main Linux distributions, however in some distributions there are only old versions of PSPP available (0.6.x). In Ubuntu Quantal repositories there is available PSPP (0.7.9). In Ubuntu you can install PSPP directly from your browser, from Ubuntu Software Center or with the following command:

sudo apt-get install pspp

Adam Zammit is providing a beta version of PSPP from his PPA PSPP repository at Launchpad. Beta version is development version, which contains all new features, but is not thoroughly tested as stable version. Previous development versions were provided by Jure Čuhalev, but his packages were not updated very frequently.

You can add PPA repository for PSPP beta version to your system with the following commands (from command line):

sudo add-apt-repository ppa:adamzammit/pspp

Installing PSPP through Ubuntu Software Center.

GUI version of PSPP can be run with the command psppire.__

PSPP 0.7.9 (slovenian version) on Ubuntu 12.10.

Windows Xp/Vista/7

The latest Windows binaries (for Windows Xp/Vista/7) are available from http://pspp.awardspace.com/. Available is a 32-bit and 64-bit version.

PSPP 0.7.10 (slovenian version) on Windows 7.

Mac OS

Install files for OS X are available at Jeremy Lavergne web site. Please note that you will need X11.app installed.

Available are install files (mpkg and dmg) files for the following versions of OS X:

PSPP for OS X 10.9 (64-bit only)
PSPP for OS X 10.8 (64-bit only)__
PSPP for OS X 10.7 (64-bit only)__
PSPP for OS X 10.6 (32-bit and 64-bit)__
PSPP for OS X 10.5 (PowerPC and 32-bit Intel)__

PSPP 0.7.10 on Mac OS X 10.8.3.

Source code

Source code is available from http://ftpmirror.gnu.org/pspp (or one of it’s mirror sites). Once you have downloaded the tarball, refer to the INSTALL file for installation instructions. The PSPP developer’s wiki has some operating system-specific tips for installing PSPP as well.

Official PSPP user manual is available from Sourceforge (in PDF format) and from developer’s Ben Pfaff’s web site (in HTML, ASCII or PDF format).
